Malcolm A. Tarkanian, M.D. has served on Community First Foundation’s board of directors since June 2005.

Dr. Tarkanian has been an ophthalmologist at Arvada Eye Associates since 1979. He previously served as an eye physician and surgeon at Arvada Medical Center from 1976 – 1979. From 1969 – 1972 he was a command surgeon in the 32nd Army Air Defense Command USAR.

Dr. Tarkanian received his M.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and his undergraduate A.B. at Western Reserve University. He is affiliated with Exempla Lutheran Medical Center. In 2002 he received Community First Foundation’s Physician Community Service award for founding a volunteer eye program for the homeless.

Community Participation:

• Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, volunteers to perform eye examinations
• Applewood Kiwanis member, participates in monthly activities for community volunteer projects
• Denver Health Medical Center and Colorado Health Science Center, volunteer teacher since 1976
• Professional memberships include the American Medical Association, American Board of Ophthalmology, Clear Creek Valley Medical Society, Colorado Society of Eye Physicians & Surgeons and the Colorado Medical Society
