GivingFirst.org and Jeffco Action Center on CBS4

Jeffco Action Center (JAC) recently had a chance to reach thousands of people through an interview aired on “Breakfast with Brooke,” a CBS4 news show. Mag Strittmatter, executive director, shared her concerns about the increasing numbers of people streaming through their doors as the recession took hold. “We thought, ‘Oh, something’s coming. Something’s happening,” she told anchorwoman Brooke Wagner. Highlights of JAC’s services followed, emphasizing how they are helping during these troubled times.

JAC received the largest number of donations through GivingFirst.org in 2008. This, and their dedication to supporting self-sufficiency in our community, captured the interest of Wagner.

Cheryl Haggstrom, executive vice president of Community First Foundation, demonstrated on the show how GivingFirst.org helps nonprofits like JAC fund-raise. The Foundation saw a 300% increase in online donations over the holidays and 24% overall from 2007 to 2008. Best of all, numbers are still strong in early 2009.

GivingFirst.org also received a write-up in Cherry Creek’s The Villager newspaper.
