Grant-Making Process

Initiative-Based Grant-Making
The Foundation has developed a network of nonprofits in the metropolitan Denver community to keep us intimately aware of the issues facing our community. In addition, our staff and board of directors maintain active ties with local leaders and organizations. These relationships enable us to develop initiatives that are proactive and strategically focused to address specific community needs. After developing initiatives and receiving approval from the Foundation’s board of directors, we make grants available to nonprofit organizations through a Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
Guided by the Nine Dimensions of Health & Well-Being
We use a benchmark called the Nine Dimensions of Health & Well-Being to guide our fund-raising and granting decisions. The nine dimensions—aesthetic, economic, educational, emotional, environmental, occupational, physical, social and spiritual—define the concept of health and well-being.
How to Learn about Our Initiatives
Visit our Web site’s home page or Initiatives & Grant Highlights for announcements. We also communicate our announcements through mailings, publications and news releases.
To ensure the most efficient use of our resources, we are unable to respond to unsolicited proposals. We invite you to share your thoughts about needs in the community to help us understand current and emerging issues.
