Initiatives & Grant Highlights

Community First Foundation is committed to strengthening the metropolitan Denver community. We use our resources to fund vital community initiatives, support nonprofit organizations, and assist individuals with charitable giving. We help donors support charitable causes through planned giving and Donor Advised Funds, and offer grants, fund management and education to nonprofits.

Nonprofit Preservation Initiative

Nonprofit Preservation is a unique initiative that focuses on the long-term health of Denver area nonprofits. Comprised of innovative programs and grants, the initiative helps sustain the nonprofit sector for generations to come.

From 2004 - 2010 the Foundation helped nearly 70 nonprofits establish endowments through a program of the initiative called Endowment Challenge Grants. Today we continue to support the long-term health of nonprofits through endowment fund management, training and mentoring.

We also offer an online philanthropy program that centers on a website called GivingFirst.org. Hundreds of Colorado nonprofits are featured on the site and benefit an easy to use, efficient way to reach online donors. To learn more about the GivingFirst program, click here.

Colorado Gives Day

Colorado Gives Day is an initiative to increase philanthropy in Colorado through online giving. Created by Community First Foundation with the support of FirstBank, the second Colorado Gives Day took place on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 and resulted in a total of $12.7 million distributed to Colorado nonprofits.
