Cecilia didn’t have a job; she was interning to become a certified addiction counselor. She also found out that they didn’t have a lease on their home and was soon evicted. In less than ten days she arrived at the Jeffco Action Center without a home, with only the clothes on her family’s backs, and without hope.
Jeffco Action Center was able to find Cecilia and her children space at its 22-bed shelter for the homeless. For the first time in a month Cecilia finally felt safe again. With the Action Center’s help, she and her children received three meals a day, and had a safe, caring place to stay at night. They received the support and hope necessary to stabilize their lives. Her children returned to school, she found a job and, with Jeffco Action Center’s help, Cecilia and her family found a new place to live after their stay at the Action Center.
About Jeffco Action Center Sadly, Cecilia’s story is far too common at the Jeffco Action Center. Every day, the Action Center distributes two tons of food to over 120 families that walk through their doors seeking assistance. Families also receive clothes from the clothing bank, bus tokens for transportation assistance, rental and utility assistance, and medical, prescription and dental assistance. Every year, over 40,000 individuals receive assistance from Jeffco Action Center. For more information about Jeffco Action Center and its services, visit www.jeffcoac.org.
Partnership with Community First Foundation Community First Foundation supports Jeffco Action Center’s work by offering grants and services that support the long-term stability of the organization. In recent years, the Foundation has awarded over $50,000 in grant support.
