Good to Great & the Social Sectors
Featuring Jim Collins: Coming May 14

When Jim Collins released his best-selling book Good to Great, it became clear that social sector leaders were dealing with circumstances quite different from business. The particular challenges of the social sectors compelled Collins to write a monograph to his book, specifically applying Good to Great concepts to this industry. In his monograph Collins wrote, "We need to reject the naive imposition of the language of business on the social sectors, and instead jointly embrace a language of greatness." On May 14, you have a chance to learn Collins' insights first-hand, from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. at the Colorado Convention Center.

New Nonprofits Join GivingFirst,
Incentive Program Launched

Fifty-three nonprofits joined the GivingFirst Web site on April 1, 2008, bringing the total number of nonprofits featured on the site to 225. By the end of the year, we expect to showcase more than 300--making GivingFirst the most comprehensive source of objective, reliable nonprofit data in the area. More than 150 organizations received $867,224 through donations and incentives since the site’s launch in May 2007, including the Foundation's matching dollars of $100,000 in 2007.

Meet Barb Pointer, Community First Foundation Accountant

The Foundation welcomes Barb Pointer to our accounting staff. She officially joined our team in January 2008. Barb prepares the journal entries for month-end financials, tracks our Endowment Challenge Grant partners' progress, and helps prepare monthly Financial Statements.

Update on Sponsorship Transfer for Exempla Healthcare System

Community First Foundation is looking forward to transferring its membership interest in Exempla Healthcare to the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System (SCLHS), a transaction that unlocks millions in funding for Exempla and the Foundation.

The proceeds of $311 million provide Community First Foundation with a significant endowment that will be invested back into the community to fund metropolitan Denver nonprofits that support health and well-being.
