Nonprofit Preservation Initiative

Nonprofit Preservation is the Foundation's ground-breaking initiative designed to support the long-term future of nonprofit organizations. Comprised of Endowment Challenge Grants, Strengthening Partners Grants, GivingFirst and other programs, the initiative seeks to strengthen the community by ensuring vital services continue well into the future.

GivingFirst Raises Over Half a Million
Dollars in Six Months

We are pleased to announce that more than half a million dollars has been raised through GivingFirst since its launch on May 31, 2007.

That means that in just six months (May 31 - November 30, 2007) 1,156 donors contributed $541,220 to 120 GivingFirst participants. Community First Foundation's match of $100,000 brings the total to $641,220.

Welcome Dana Rinderknecht, New GivingFirst Manager
In early December, Dana Rinderknecht joined the Foundation as the new GivingFirst Manager. She is the latest addition to a team dedicated to supporting the nonprofit community.

Dana is the point of contact for your GivingFirst needs. She will conduct training sessions, assist with creating and uploading profiles, administer award incentives, oversee the accuracy and updating of profiles, and address technical concerns. Dana will also help promote GivingFirst in the community. She looks forward to making GivingFirst the leading source for ePhilanthropy in the community!

Strengthening Partners Grants 2007
Supports Staff Training & Development

In 2005, the Foundation developed a grant to help our nonprofit partners fund projects that are not easily funded through traditional sources. Called Strengthening Partners Grants, the grants are offered to nonprofit organizations that hold funds at Community First Foundation.

Strengthening Partners Grants 2007 is specifically designed to fund staff training and development. It allows up to $5,000 per selected organization to strengthen its most important resource — its employees.

Seminar Recap: Endowment Building Practices that Succeed

Some of the best learning comes from the sharing of experiences. That's why our final Nonprofit Preservation seminar of 2007 brought together four of the Foundation's Endowment Challenge Grant participants in a give-and-take panel discussion.

Panelists were selected to represent a range of organizations — those with varying budgets, staff sizes, and fund-raising strategies. But what they all had in common was a willingness to share candidly their successes and challenges with endowment-building.
