A New Name, A New Era
It’s official! On September 24, 2007, the Foundation kicked off its new look and new name, Community First Foundation.

The name was chosen after extensive research and reflection, to help convey the Foundation’s overriding focus: serving the community first. The waves in the logo symbolize the rippling effect of philanthropy and our new colors were selected to signify innovation, strength and trustworthiness, as we move into a new era of philanthropy.
New Staff to Serve Nonprofits
The Foundation is pleased to welcome two new employees who have been selected to serve our nonprofit partners — Mike Jackson (pictured left) and Bryce Wilkinson.
Mike Jackson joins us as the director of nonprofit relations and services. His position has been created to build relationships in the community and develop the Foundation's Nonprofit Preservation Initiative.
Foundation Releases Endowment Planning Guide
Community First Foundation created a ground-breaking initiative called Nonprofit Preservation in 2004. Unlike other initiatives that support specific services, Nonprofit Preservation was designed to support the long-term future of charitable organizations. It is based on the Foundation’s belief in the importance of nonprofits in our community, and to ensure their vital services continue to flourish. To build on the idea of constructing a strong core for nonprofits through endowments, Community First Foundation worked with Houston-based The Dini Partners to develop an Endowment Planning Guide.
800 Donors Support GivingFirst Phase II on First Day
On October 3, 2007, the second phase of GivingFirst launched to an overwhelming response from the community. One hundred and fifteen new nonprofit profiles went live on the GivingFirst.org Web site, bringing the total number of profiles on the e-philanthropy Web site to 175.
In one day alone, more than 800 donors donated $342,000 to the nonprofits participating in GivingFirst. Community First Foundation then matched those dollars with $50,000.
