Community First Foundation Seeks Nonprofits with Promising Approaches to Mental Wellness

ARVADA, CO (September 16, 2015) – Community First Foundation is seeking nonprofits in the Denver metropolitan area with promising, but not proven, programs in mental wellness to apply to participate in the inaugural year of The Innovators Society.

The Innovators Society, a program of Community First Foundation, is committed to improving mental wellness by investing in fresh, new ideas to improve awareness, foster well-being and change perceptions of mental illness.

Nonprofits with program ideas in early childhood mental wellness, improvements to systems that support mental wellness or changing perceptions of mental illness, are encouraged to apply. Applications are due by Tuesday, October 13, 2015, 5:00 p.m.

Four to six nonprofit organizations will be selected to participate in a yearlong accelerator program to develop their innovative mental wellness ideas. The program prepares them to compete for grant dollars by presenting their plan to a large audience.

“The Innovators Society is one way the Foundation is powering community,” says Noah Atencio, Vice President of Community Impact at Community First Foundation. “On a systemic level, the state of mental wellness is all too often considered an afterthought. We want to bring promotion of mental wellness to the forefront of systems change and invest in solutions that help prevent or buffer mental illness.”
